Carmen Muresan

Affordable Counselling and Psychotherapy Online and in North London

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website. My name is Carmen Muresan, and I am a UKCP-registered, trainee psychotherapist online and in North London.

I believe the quality of our relationships—especially the one we have with ourselves—shapes the quality of our lives. But life can be messy, and the experiences we go through can leave us feeling stuck, lost, or disconnected from who we are.

Therapy is a space where we can make sense of things together. We’ll explore your past and present with curiosity and kindness, untangling the patterns that no longer serve you. Healing isn’t just about accepting what’s happened—it’s about discovering new ways to move forward, reconnecting with yourself, and making space for growth and change.

You don’t have to do this alone. Together, we can work toward a life that feels more authentic, fulfilling, and aligned with who you truly are.

I work with a range of issues, including...

Relationships

Our relationships—with ourselves and others—are key to our wellbeing. Together, we can explore patterns in friendships, family, work, or romantic relationships to help create positive change.

Depression and Anxiety

Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected can make life feel challenging. Whether you’re struggling with low mood, worry, or self-doubt, therapy offers a space to explore your emotions and regain a sense of balance.

Self-Esteem

Low self-esteem can affect how you see yourself and navigate the world. In therapy, we can explore the beliefs and experiences that shape your self-worth, helping you to challenge self-critical thoughts and develop a stronger sense of confidence and self-respect.

Identity

Our sense of identity is shaped by culture, gender, sexuality, and personal experiences, as well as neurological and cognitive differences.

In therapy, we can explore these aspects of your identity, helping you embrace all parts of yourself with confidence and authenticity.

Trauma

Trauma leaves deep emotional wounds that can shape how we view ourselves and the world. In therapy, we can explore how trauma has affected you, heal the wounds, and rebuild trust.

With support, you can move towards wholeness, rediscovering your strength and resilience.

Shame and Self-Criticism

Shame and self-criticism can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms, such as avoidance or aggression, and contribute to anxiety or depression. In therapy, we can explore the root of these feelings and learn to heal with self-compassion.

About Me

In my practice, I take an inclusive approach to therapy, embracing diversity and creating a space where everyone feels welcome and accepted. We all have different identities that intersect—race, gender, class, sexual orientation—and I believe those experiences should be honoured. My goal is to provide a safe and warm environment where you feel seen and heard, without fear of judgment or marginalisation.

Together, we’ll explore your experiences, the patterns that may keep you stuck, and the steps you can take to grow, build stronger connections, and feel more resilient.

Whether meeting over Zoom or in person, I’m here to support your personal growth and guide you toward the changes you seek.

Let’s take this step together.

Frequently Asked Questions

We’ll begin with an informal phone or video call to discuss what you’d like to achieve from our sessions and to answer any questions you may have. My goal is to ensure you get the most from therapy, so if at any point I feel that I don’t have the right skills to support you, I’ll let you know and, where possible, recommend other resources or specialists.

I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, and together we’ll decide which approach best suits your needs. I recommend starting with 12 weekly sessions, after which we’ll check in to assess how you’re feeling about the process. From there, you can decide if you’d like to continue with longer-term therapy.

I offer a limited number of reduced-rate places for clients on a low income. We can discuss this further during our initial conversation.

Exploring difficult or traumatic life events, especially from childhood, can be painful. Because of this, it’s hard to predict how long therapy will take, as we may need to approach things gradually. Together, we’ll establish a pace that feels right for you, and you decide what to share and when.

If we meet and you feel that I’m not the right therapist for you, I completely understand. It’s important that you feel comfortable and supported in therapy. If that’s the case, I’ll respect your decision and, where possible, help you find a therapist who may be a better fit for your needs.

Everyone’s therapy journey is unique. Sometimes, more frequent sessions may feel necessary, while other times, taking a break is helpful. I can hold your appointment slot for up to 4 weeks. After that, I may offer your time to someone else, though you are always welcome to book any other available time slots.
